1994-2004 Ford Mustang SN-95 / New Edge Wheel Fitment Guide

1994-2004 Ford Mustang SN-95 / New Edge Wheel Fitment Guide

Estimated Read Time: 6 minutes

The Ford Mustang boasts a sleek profile that is both sporty and refined. One way to make this already impressive vehicle stand out, even more, is by fitting it with Cosmis Racing Wheels. These wheels were designed to not only enhance the appearance of your car but also improve its performance on the road. We offer a variety of attractive, lightweight aftermarket wheels. To find what will work best for your build, we made it simple and divided fitment recommendations into multiple categories: Daily Driver and Aggressive/ Stance fitment.

Feel free to check out our 94-04 Ford Mustang Customer Car Gallery to see pictures of the wheels on the cars.

1. Recommended Sizes

To start, your 1994-2004 Stang comes from the factory with 5-lug wheels. More specifically, it has a 5x114.3 bolt pattern (also known as PCD). Knowing this is important; we want your wheels to bolt on!

Diameter: 17 to 18 inch
Width: 8 to 11 inch
Offset (ET): +10mm to +35mm - We know a lot of you are more familiar with backspacing, so we will let you know what the backspace is on each wheel to make it easier.
Bolt Pattern / PCD: 5x114.3 (5x4.5")
Cosmis Wheels Lug Seat: 60º Conical / Tapered
Thread: 1/2" - 20 UNF
Hub Bore: 70.5mm - Our 5x114.3 wheels have a 73.1mm center bore, so we recommend purchasing hub-centric rings.

Things to keep in mind before purchasing wheels:

  • Your suspension setup plays a crucial role in the wheel fitment. If you plan to lower your car, you'll need to be careful with the ride height to avoid any rubbing issues.
  • If you have a BBK (big brake kit) spacers may be required to clear the brakes.
  • Staggered setups and rotating tires: First - if you aren't familiar with what a staggered setup is, it's when someone runs wider wheels and tires on one rear of the car. Because of this, you won't be able to rotate your wheels as you usually would. When dealing with staggered wheels and non-directional tires on your vehicle, the side-to-side rotation pattern can be used by swapping the right wheels with the left wheels and vice versa. It is important to keep the front tires in the front and the rear tires in the rear of the vehicle. If the tires are directional, you would have to dismount the tires and then swap over. This is more of a hassle, so keep this in mind before buying tires.

2. Daily Driver

The most common Cosmis wheel sizes we see SN-95 / New Edge Mustang owners run is a staggered setup; more specifically 18x9.5 +10 in the front and 18x11 +8 in the rear. We luckily offer the XT-006R and XT-206R in both of these specs. In our opinion, the staggered XT-series wheels are the best wheels for the Mustang. However, these are technically aggressive since they will poke. Please skip ahead to the Aggressive section if you're looking for these wheels.

XT-005R 18x9 +25mm | 18x10 +20mm (Temporarily Discontinued)

The backspace for 18x9 +25mm is 6" and 18x10 +20mm is 6.3".

Feast your eyes on a stunning New Edge Mustang with a staggered set of XT-005R wheels. These wheels are the epitome of automotive elegance and perfectly complement the Mustang's classic design. While the discontinued version is presented here for your viewing pleasure, fear not, as we'll soon be restocking these beauties in a range of new sizes and offsets.

XT-006R 18x9 +30mm 5x114.3 Squared

Backspace: 6.18"

Colors Offered:

If you're itching to mount a larger tire on your ride without any pesky rubbing issues, the 18x9 +30 wheels are the way to go. These wheels are the perfect choice for daily drivers or those running air suspension, as they'll tuck seamlessly and give you the best of both worlds - style, and performance. No more worrying about chewing up your tires. These are ideal for those that want to keep a more factory-like stance and desire to rotate their wheels and tires in a traditional manner.

We recommend rolling your fenders if the car is on air suspension. If your Mustang is stock ride height or lowered up to 2-inches, you'll likely be fine! You may experience rubbing at full lock depending on what tire size you decide to go with. 275/35/18 is one of the most popular sizes for this wheel.

MRII 17x9 +10mm 5x114.3 Squared

Backspace: 5.4"

Colors Offered:

First things first, let's address the slammed car pictured below. We know that not everyone is into that kind of look, but we wanted to show you that these wheels can work on a wide range of cars, even those with extreme suspension setups. But fear not, these wheels can work on daily drivers too. The 17x9 size with a +10 offset might sound aggressive, but since it's only a 9" wheel, you won't have to worry about the wheels poking outside the fenders.

Now, let's talk about tire options. With a 17" wheel, you have more room to add a beefier tire for better grip and handling. On the other hand, you can also stretch the tires to sit super low and achieve that sought-after stance look. The choice is yours!

Colors Offered for staggered sets:

  • White
  • Black

Embrace the fusion of JDM style with an American twist through the MR7 wheels. To truly enhance the aesthetics, a staggered setup is recommended, allowing you to fill the rear wheel wells and achieve a visually balanced look. With the offset, these wheels strike the perfect balance, offering a touch of concavity without excessive poke. The MR7 wheels are the ideal choice for Mustang enthusiasts seeking a refined yet aggressive appearance.

3. Aggressive / Stance

Looking to spice up your car with some fierce and aggressive wheels? Ready to make heads turn and jaws drop as you cruise down the streets? Well, hold on to your seats because we've got the scoop on how to rock our most aggressive wheels on your ride!

XT-006R 18x9.5 +10mm | 18x11 +8mm Staggered

The backspace for 18x9.5 +10mm is 5.6" and the 18x11 +8mm is 6.3".

Colors Offered:

Ready to take your 1994-2004 Mustang to the next level? If you're looking to boost your ride's handling and traction, the Cosmis Racing XT-006R wheels are the perfect fit. With wider rear wheels at 18x11 +8 and the front at 18x9.5 +10, you'll enjoy greater road contact, improved grip, and better stability.

We suggest rolling the fenders if the car is lowered (even if it's only on lowering springs) to prevent rubbing. And while the 18x11 rear wheels may poke slightly, the 18x9.5 fronts fit nearly flush and match the rear wheels, so nobody will notice the different wheel specs. If you don't want any poke, you can run the 18x9.5 +10 squared and add a spacer to get the wheels flush with the quarter panels. Some choose to run around -2º of camber in the front for a fully flush look.

The backspace for 18x9.5 +10mm is 5.6" and the 18x11 +8mm is 6.3".

Colors Offered:

We won't dive too deep into the specifics since the fitment for these wheels is the same as the ones we previously mentioned (XT-006R 18x9.5 +10 and 18x11). The rears are more aggressive than the front, so please keep that in mind if you want to avoid poking.

Backspace: 6.3"

Today, we're going to talk about two popular wheel sizes that we've been discussing quite frequently. If you're looking for a bold and aggressive look for your Mustang, you may want to consider running the 18x11 XT-006R or XT-206R. They're our deepest dish wheels.

We highly recommend you pair it with a widebody kit or fender flares to avoid having the wheels poking out awkwardly. If you don't want to run a widebody kit, you'll have to adjust the camber and modify your fenders (rolling and pulling) extensively - otherwise, they will poke. So, keep in mind that it may take a considerable amount of effort to get the perfect fit if you decide to go this route.
